Team enters national US Ignite innovation competition; wins award for best advanced manufacturing app

App focuses on high-speed network technologies to advance industry, education A team of academic and business organizations, mostly from Ohio, won an award for the “Best Application for Advanced Manufacturing” at the Next Generation Application Summit. The challenge was sponsored by Mozilla Foundation and is part of the nonprofit US Ignite initiative funded partly by the National Science Foundation. The final round of the challenge, held June 25 in Chicago, showcased demos that focused on communities and cities that use gigabit applications to further economic development and new application development that utilize new high-speed networks. As of Feb, 2012 the Metro Data Center and the TechDEC are open for business. There is excitement as office space is completed, new people move in, the data center becomes populated with equipment and the fiber network underground work is done. The City of Dublin Information Technology Team Moves to Metro Data Center

Bob Schaber, Network Operations Manager, and Brad Jones, Network Engineer, both with the City of Dublin Information Technology Department, moved to the Metro Data Center and TechDEC this week. “We are pleased to have access to these outstanding data center facilities,” said Schaber. “Now we can consolidate our data with plenty of room for growth.” Being located in office space at the TechDEC, at the same location as the secure, high tier data center, is a large attraction to this facility, according to the Dublin IT team and other business owners moving into the TechDEC.
